The Amazing Trip - part 1

You've heard of the amazn race? Well this is The Amazing Trip, except that no one got eliminated!! ;-) Actually, what is amazing is that our requests were heard for this trip! That doesn't mean we didn't have our share of misadventures or weird smells-n-sights. All in all, though, this trip had many great memories, fun adventures, new experiences and friendships(hopefully for a lifetime)! It was a very meaningful trip to and we were able to think about many things and people. It is a place full of history and special significance for us. But what really made this an amazing trip is the places we visited and the people we meet along the way. The traveling was tedious, but so worth it! Well, enough rambling... a pictures worth a 1,000 words anyway.

This is the first of a series of blog posts of us with some visitors we had on an amazing trip we had this summer! More below...

The Amazing Trip - part 2

We had the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Moses. The best part of this trip was our starlight camel rides! I really enjoyed the view from the top as well!! As we ascended I thought about the One who first put the stars in place and knows them by name. He looked down (years ago) at a man fleeing in despair and failure into this rugged terrane. The man probably felt very alone, but he was not! The Father loved him very much and had momentous plans in store for him. He would later reveal Himself to Moses in such a unique way that they would be called friends!

The Amazing Trip - part 3

So this is how they make flat bread! As you can see it takes talent to make. It's really yummy when its hot & fresh!! I wonder if this is how Sarah of old made it?

It doesnt look like much, but this sweet, poor family gave us the best they had. We were so blessed and humbled by their hospitality. Hospitality is such an important part of their culture. We gave them a little but important gift in return. By the way, the fish was really awesome, so if it looks like it was devoured... that's 'cause it was!

Sometimes you get a guide without even asking for one. This is famous coastal town for diving. They haven't had much business lately, but they are lacking even greater things. Sometimes the most beautiful places in the world have the deepest needs!

This next scene made our "never-seen-that-before" list! Well, it was really hot, so why not!

The Amazing Trip - part 4

It was great to have you have our friends here!!
Hope to see you guys again soon!

"Sight"-seeing

Driving is always an experience. :)

These are called Tuc Tuc's and are imported from the east. They don't go as fast as a car, but that doesn't mean they can't be driven on the highway. They make us laugh.

We, believe it or not, were asked to play the guitar and to sing at a friends wedding. Weddings here are very loud and interactive. Notice the children walking around and sitting on the stage during the service. The camera men stand right in front of the couple the whole time too, that is except for when they are panning the audience.

We were recently able to vist an oasis here. It was so contrasting to the desert around it. What a difference a little water makes.

There are beautiful sunsets over the sea.

The spring season brings sandstorms into the city from the desert called Khamasin's. This a picture from our dinning room window.

Family Visits

We were really blessed to have some special visits this summer from family. We had lots of fun as you will see, but there was also some "roughing it" as mom would easily agree. My sister really embraced the culture. :-)

Our sister and I were able to do Henna with some of our friends here. It is a real bonding time for girls. The orange die lasted about 1 month. It's not a tattoo! :)

Mom and Dad took an adventurous trip with us out to the desert. It looks beautiful, just dont drink the well water.

Love all yall! ;-)

We thought we would share with you some other sights that we have seen along the way. They are pretty common from what we have seen, but were new for us when we first came. Hope you enjoy a glimpse of everyday life in other lands!

A balancing act between the old and the new!

A relatively calm, quiet morning at the market...at least, its calm compared to later that day!

"Beef, its what's for dinner."

Guess its laundry Day!

A common sight at an uncommon location. It is not just tourists that come to these beautiful locations, but many local people too!

Finally, every now-and-then, you'll see a street cat that is lucky like this one. It just may be sneeky enough to get a free lunch!

Fun & Fabulous Friends

This past week some good friends came to visit. We had a great time sight seeing together, and we were really encouraged by them. They even brought us goodies that aren't available in our country, i.e. chocolate chips and Dr. Pepper!

We ate at a Chinese restaurant on top of a hotel. It was an awesome view.

Hope to see you guys here soon!!! ;-)

World travelers

We recently had an opportunity to go here and marvel at these historical monuments! It was really amazing!! Unfortunately, we were harrassed the entire time by venders and sellers so it was hard to really soak it the history that we were witnessing. However, all in all, we really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recomend ya'll coming to visit them as well! Hope you enjoy the pics! Love ya'll

3rd Honeymoon!

Well, we might have gone to the most beautiful place so far for our anniversary. We left thinking that we might be able to walk along the beach wearing our jackets, maybe tipping our feet in the water, and enjoying the view. But actually, it was just about perfect temperature! We even were able to swim, get in the water, and watch the coral fish swim by.

It was a break that was needed much more then we realized, and we were so blessed with this time! Instead of running around doing activities, most of the day, we just bummed around on the beach sunbathing and reading and napping.

In the evenings we got some ice cream (Movenpick, yummy!!), and then walked around on the boardwalk and tourist-e areas, full of light. This was a time of relative quiet, reflection, and quality-time together!

It is good and challenging to be back, but we are so thankful that we are not forgotten by our friends and family! Love yall!!!
